Karen Malina White is an American film and television actress. White was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was born on September 13, 1964.

Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts was White’s place of study. Karen continued her studies at Howard University after completing her high school education, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

White received the “Miss Howard University” title during her senior year and obtained her first acting job.

She is best known for her roles as Nicolette Vandross on Malcolm & Eddie (1996-2000), Kaneesha Carter in the drama film Lean on Me (1989), Charmaine Brown on The Cosby Show (1990-1992) and its spinoff A Different World (1992-1993), and Dijonay Jones’ voice on the Disney Channel animated comedy The Proud Family (2001–2005).

White is unmarried and has never had a child. White dated actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner from 1997 to 2005. White was never married to Warner nor engaged to him, despite popular belief.
