John R. Cash was a country music performer from the United States (born February 26, 1932–September 12, 2003). Most of Cash’s songs, particularly in the latter stages of his career, dealt with themes of grief, moral struggle, and salvation. His distinctive Tennessee accent and rich, soothing bass-baritone voice made him well-known.
His supporting band was distinguished by train-like chugging guitar rhythms, rebelliousness combined with an increasingly melancholy and humble demeanor, free prison concerts, and his rebelliousness in addition to his trademark all-black stage attire, which earned him the nickname “The Man in Black.”
