In the House of Representatives from 1989 to 2003, Gary Adrian Condit (born April 21, 1948) served as California’s 18th congressional district’s representative. His adulterous relationship with Chandra Levy, an intern at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, garnered him much national notice. Following Levy’s abduction in May 2001 and the finding of his remains a year later, the affair gained attention.
Condit lost the 2002 Democratic primary in large part due to the scandal’s unfavorable exposure, despite the fact that he was never legally named as a suspect in the abduction and murder of Levy.
From 1972 until 1976, Condit served on the Ceres city council, serving the final two years as mayor. At age 25, he was elected as the city’s youngest mayor in its history.
Where Is Gary Condit Now?
In 2012, Condit was reported to be serving as president of the Phoenix Institute of Desert Agriculture, which listed its status as “Dissolved” in the last corporate filing as of June 4, 2015. He later returned to California, where he became a registered lobbyist with the J. Blonien law firm of Sacramento.
